Crow Wing County Summer Moving Tips

School will be back in session before we know it but don’t rush summer by. Summer is the busiest time for moving and an easy transition from home to home is what every mover is looking for. Here are a few tips that will help your move to be worry free.

  1. Determine how you want to move. Can you move yourself or do you need to hire a moving company to fully move or partial move you? Your budget, amount of time you have to move, lifestyle and size of your home may all play a factor in helping you make a decision. If you choose to go with a professional mover get at least three written quotes from licensed moving companies.
  2. Plan ahead. A few well planned out packing tips before you move can make unpacking easier. Take photos of each room in your new home then jot down on each box where in the home it should go. Start packing early going thru one room at a time. Take pictures of the back of your electronic hook-ups. When arriving at your new home use those pictures to help you reconnect all your electronics. If you have children consider finding a safe place for them to stay during moving day so they do not get hurt with all the activity going on.
  3. Moving with pets. The constant flow of people in and out of the home on moving day can be stressful to pets. Ask a trusted friend if they would keep your pet during moving day. If there is no one left to watch Fido because they will all be helping you move try checking them into a pet daycare in your town.
  4. Insurance. Without a doubt something always breaks during a big move. If you are using a professional moving company purchase the insurance they offer. It may cost you a little bit more but the peace of mind you get in the long run is well worth it.
  5. Small Parts. When you need to break down larger items to move them do not misplace those little screws and washers you remove. Place those small parts in a Ziploc bag and tape it to the furniture that way when you arrive at your new destination all the pieces you need to re- assemble your furniture is right where you need it.
