The number of foreclosures in Crow Wing County dropped below 200 a year in 2013 for the first time since the housing bubble burst in 2006. For the month of December there were 10 reported foreclosures, according to Kathy Ludenia, Crow Wing County recorder.
Throughout 2013 there were a total of 192 foreclosures in the county, in 2012 there were 273, and in 2011 there were 369. It is clear to see the pattern here where numbers are continuing to decrease year after year. In 2013 it was the first time in recent history that we have seen a few months with fewer than 12 foreclosures a month.
The number of pending foreclosures for Crow Wing County was 23 in December, which is down from 30 in December 2012. There were 277 pending foreclosures in 2013, which is an indication of upcoming and highly likely, but not a guarantee of foreclosing. In 2012 that number was 410, so it is easy to see that headway is being made on foreclosures in the county. At the peak of the recent recession we saw 645 pending foreclosures in 2009.
