The world’s largest charitable ice fishing contest will be held by the Brainerd’s Jaycees on January 25th, 2014. This marks the 24 year for the $150,000 Ice Fishing Extravaganza. The event will take place on Gull Lakes’ Hole in the Day Bay, just north of Brainerd. The prize this year will be valued at close to $200,000. Tickets for the contest are now available thru November 30th at a discounted price of $30 and can be purchased at Mills Fleet Farm locations, and the Mills Indoor Shooting & Archery Center. Ticket prices will be $45 staring Dec. 1st , and will be available up to the day of the event.
The “Catch of the Day Extravaganza Give Away” returns this year which is an additional contest that allows participants for $5 a chance to win a prize package valued at $9,000. The stamps for this contest can be purchased online and at Mills Fleet Farm located in Baxter. If you would like to contribute to this great cause and cannot attend you can purchase raffle tickets for $10 at all Minnesota Mills Fleet Farm locations. The raffle value is over $35,000.
The Brainerd Jaycees $150,000 Ice Fishing Extravaganzas is run by all volunteers and all proceeds from the event are donated to local charities. Confidence Learning Center is the primary beneficiary, which is an outdoor recreational facility and camp for those with developmental disabilities.
