For many Memorial Day marks the beginning of summer. With the thought of the warmer weather ahead you may be contemplating installing a pool, or buying a home in Crow Wing County with a pool. Before you take that dive here are the financial implications you should know about owning your own swimming pool.
If you will be installing a pool there are upfront costs involved. The average in-ground residential pool is $39,084 according to the latest PK Data report. If you plan to sell your home in the future the ROI of a pool is not always that high. After the upfront costs of a pool comes the maintenance cost of a pool. If you are buying a home with a pool already have a local pool company come inspect so you are aware of any issues. On average you can expect to pay $80 or more a month in electrical costs, $20 a month on average in chemicals, and $20 a month on repair and maintenance. To avoid costly repairs maintain your pool on a monthly basis. If you do not have time to maintain it yourself hire a local pool company to do so for you.
